I am glad to announce that Neighbours will be screened at Rich Mix Cinema in Bethnal Geen, London, on the 4th of october as part of the London Spanish Film Festival.

Sorry for the late post.
This beautiful film directed by Daniela Negrin, the same year than Damned, by Richard Phelan, at NFTS 2011. I had the enormous privilege of being able to help a little bit with color and animation. My biggest congratulations to Daniela for this extraordinary beautiful film. Very soon in your nearest animation festival.

The Great Richard Phelan
 my mentor and great support during my first year and second year so far, at NFTS, has finished his gorgeous film DAMNED. Very soon you will see it running out in festivals all over the world.

I had the great opportunity and pleasure of doing a bit of colouring for his film, but not enough to pay him back all the time he has spent giving me advice and teaching me about animation.

Thank you Richard! You are the best!

Monstra Festival 2011

Birdboy, El Pisito, Neighbours and Canteen have been selected for the animation film competition in the super short category at Monstra, and they will be screened at the end of the month in Lisbon.

And finally, the last project made last year at NFTS1 2010. Project 3.
We were given out of the hat a one minute soundtrack designed my sound designers; we had to find a narrative and make an animation using any technique we wanted. We were not aloud to talk with sound designers about what their intention were when designing the soundtrack.
I used this opportunity to do hand drawn animation. My second hand drawn animated film.
The soundtrack was designed by James Morgan.

Neighbours

It's a while since i wrote last time, i must appologize for the little use of my blog.
This is a project made last year, while coursing first year at Directing Animation at NFTS.
The project was about designing a character inside out, writing his background story, his personality traits and all we could imagine about his past and behavior. We would get another character out of the hat, designed by someone else. With both characters we should create a situation where both of them would end up hugging each other. It could be a love hug, a hate hug, accidental hug, any kind of hug. But after that there should be an emotional change in one or both characters.
My character is Manu, a cobbler who used to work in his shop with his wife. His wife Carmen, would work at the front with the customers, she is talkative and good with people, the opposite to Manu.
One day, she dies. Manu is very lonely but also the business is going all wrong. Manu think that the only solution for such situation is to bring Carmen back to life, so he starts dressing like her and behaving like her.
The other character i got out of the hat, is a Ram sheep called Mr Valentino. Grumpy who doesn't like people in general but most precisely doesn't like women because he had a relation ship before that end up very sadly. If it would have a job it would be a boring one.
I created a situation where Manu dressing like Carmen is looking forward to chat to someone and as soon as she sees Mr Valentino coming into the building she starts getting ready to meet him. At the same time Mr Valentino is trying to avoid Carmen.
